Capstone Theme: Movement
I’m Crystal! Art is a big part of my life, from 2D arts like drawing and painting, to 3D arts like sculpting. Performing arts is another part of my life, because I love dancing , especially ballet. I love spending time with my family, and I also like to shoot my bow and arrow, and go hunting. One of my million favorite foods include. I am doing two capstones (ceramics and dance). I have two Doberman pinschers, and two younger siblings (I’m the oldest child). My favorite movie is Pirates of the Caribbean. I love the outdoors and wildlife.
I chose movement as my theme because one of my favorite things to sculpt is dancers (I made multiple dancer sculptures). There are two different meanings to the word movement and I have used both of those meanings in my work. The first meaning of movement I use in my pieces is probably the first meaning that comes to your head; the other meaning is a group of people working together to advance their shared political, social, or artistic ideas. Most of my artworks are based on the first meaning, but I do have a couple of pieces that are based off of the second meaning. Creating a piece of art is a long process for me, sometimes it takes two to three weeks to finish a piece because I want every single one of my pieces to be amazing. My inspirations often come from photos and ideas I get from others, such as my family and friends.
